Creative Paths with Robots

This 15-hour course, you will learn how to harness the power of Grasshopper to generate custom code that controls the path of 6-axis robotic arms. Students will be responsible for operating the robots under our supervision and designing a chair that will be 3D printed at full scale using an industrial pellet extruder attached to a robotic arm.
PROGRAM
Module #1: Introduction to robot arms and their configuration inside Grasshopper in its most common workflows.
Module #2: Understanding how to 3D print at large scale with a robot arm. The students will design one chair or similar object and it will be 3D printed in real size.
Module #3: Related to controlling other types of end effectors as well as their paths and planes for the robot to be moved.
We will use two different ABB robot arms:
ABB IRB-140 and ABB IRB-6620, with the ABB language robot: RAPID.
The course also includes an introduction to robotic arms and their setup within Grasshopper for the most common workflows.
Organized by Controlmad in collaboration with Lowpoly.
